Despite its appearance, FIAT 500’s factory option BLUE&ME™ TomTom® Navigation System is not “just another portable GPS unit.” It has unique abilities and advantages.
TomTom offers notable advantages over GPS units from other manufacturers. For example, its IQ Routes™ technology evaluates routes based upon actual traffic speeds (not simply posted speed limits), and will recommend the fastest route for the time of day. Also, TomTom owns Tele Atlas, one of the largest digital mapping companies in the world, enabling them to provide greater accuracy and quicker updates.
In addition, the unit’s Bluetooth® connection to the vehicle enables it to communicate and provide more powerful features, such as:
- Low fuel warning
- Synchronization with the vehicle, to obtain and display information such as the time, mileage and gas units, and language settings
- Ability to control the device via the steering wheel
- Dead reckoning for continued navigation information even during suspended GPS signal availability
- Display technology for a media player, vehicle trip display, eco:Drive and BLUE&ME Hands-free Communication system (when used with a compatible mobile phone)
